1. The Interactive Haggadah

Overall question to think about: Could the topic be taught more effectively without the software at all?

  • What can the children gain from experimenting unguided?
  • What preparations could you do for giving the children guided use of the program? – e.g to discover certain information:

In the Seder Table section

Ask:
What did the Rabbis allow in Vilna during World War I? (click on the goblet)

What does the mother teach us about Bedikat Chametz?
(Click on the candles, then the top left square)

Click on one of the Pesukim. Use a Chumash to find the Pesukim which contain the four expressions of freedom. Which Parashah are they in? What is the context? (Shemot 6:6 – 6:7)

Look at the picture on the wall, the kitchen hatch and the clock face. Would you make use of these areas? If so, what would you do with them?

The Family Guide section

What is the function of this area?

What audience is it directed at?

Could you make any use of the textual passages in the classroom?

Write a brief evaluation of this section and its value in and/or out of the classroom.

What are its +s and –s?

The Hagaddah section

A. Describe two uninteresting, unstimulating ways of using this section

B. Describe two interesting, stimulating, motivating ways of using this section.

C. How could you adapt the ways you described in A. to make them more stimulating?

This is a really busy, fun piece of software with lots of potential formal and less formal uses; it is well worth taking the time to sit down and work your way through it to discover how best you might benefit from its contents.
