Welcome to another new section of TorahSchool.

Whether you already use Limmudei Kodesh software in your school or are still thinking about doing so and need some guidance, these pages will help you to become a little more informed and better equipped to employ L.K. software in your teaching.

There is already a rich base of software in the arena of Jewish Education.  Indeed, the packages continue to flow on to the market, providing schools with a variety of products of increasing range and quality.

Nevertheless, these products are generally designed without the specific needs of particular schools in mind, with the result that their value and usefulness in the classroom can be a bit ' hit or miss'.

Furthermore, it is possible to fall into the trap of sitting pupils in front of these colourful, tuneful programs without thoroughly investigating their suitability for our needs, or asking where and how they will they fit into our schemes of work and what contribution they will make towards our particular learning goals.

Under Evaluating Software, below, you will find a number of pages which contain evaluation tasks.  If you already have these packages on your school's shelves you can work through the tasks in order to better familiarise yourself with their content.

These tasks are designed to guide you through the different programs with a critical eye.  You are prompted to question the products'
educational benefits both in general terms and in relation to your own needs and goals.

You should develop a feel for this process that leads you to begin asking questions of your own.  In fact, even if you do not have these particular programs it should be of some value to read through these tasks in order to help you evaluate other programs for yourself using similar critical approaches.

The Software Reviews section will enable you to evaluate products' potential benefits to you before you go out and buy them.

Resources is a general listing of any useful or interesting links which may help you to approach the challenge of employing software in your teaching more confidently and / or effectively.

I hope you find these pages helpful and wish you success in all of your teaching!
