Questions on the Daf:

Read Rav Elon's introductory D'var Torah.

     in Sefer Shemot?

2.  In whose merit does the Talmud state that the Jewish people
     were redeemed from Egypt?

3.  What action of Paroh's daughter presented a challenge
     to her father's edict?

Now read the story, 'The Election'

4.  a)  What did Moshe do to save a Jew from a non-Jew?
     b)  What did he do to bring peace between Jews?
     c)  Which non-Jews did Moshe save from other non-Jews?

5.  Why do you think Moshe needed to prove his character
in these three ways?  Would not one or two of them have
     been enough?

6.  In the story about Rabbi Chaim Polagi, what did Rabbi Polagi
understand about his position that made him happy to give so
much of his time to help others?

7.  How does the Midrash teach us that Moshe's character
was no different after becoming a leader than before?

8.  Would knowing that a leader must give so much of his or
her time to help others discourage you from becoming a leader
     yourself?

Now look elsewhere in the Daf to find answers to the following questions.

9.  Why did the shepherds not let Yitro's daughters use the well?

10.  Do Ashkenazi Jews sit or stand when Kaddish is being recited?

11.  Which great rabbi decreed that one should not open letters
       addressed to other people?

12.  How are the spiritual world and the physical world different?
