Questions on the Daf:

Read Rav Elon's introductory D'var Torah.

1. What was the 'spiritual struggle' between the Jews and the Egyptians?

2. Think about Chanukah and Purim: which was more of a spiritual
struggle and which was more of a physical struggle?

Now read the story, 'The Chicken Farm.'

3. Look at a map and find out where Israel and Egypt are in relation to
    each other.

4. How can we compare the birth and early years of a child
with the experience of B'nei Yisrael in the midbar (desert)?

5. If we can compare the Jewish People in the desert with
a young child growing up, what comparison can we then make
between Hashem and a child's parents?

Now look elsewhere in the Daf to find answers to the following questions:

6. What moved behind the Jewish People to become a barrier
     between them and the Egyptians?

7. Why did the angels not sing praises to Hashem at Kriat Yam Suf
(the Splitting of the Red [or, Reed] Sea) yet the Jewish People did?

8. What are the agricultural reasons that Tu Bishvat was chosen
to be the new year with regard to giving teruma and ma'aser?

9. Which groups of people benefit from the mitzva to separate
and give teruma and ma'aser from our produce?

10. a) What is 'orlah'? b) What is done with 'netta revai'?

11. Why do we say the word 'kadosh' three times in the kedusha?

12. Be in shul to hear the Torah read with a special tune this week!
Why is the special tune for the 'shira' not sung all the way through it,
but only used for certain parts?
