Focus Questions
on Rashi
of the Week:
Tzav
1. What does Rashi mean by "this is not obligatory, but good
manners"?
2. Can you think of a reason
why the Torah (i.e. Hashem) would not choose to make acts of 'good
manners' obligatory?
3. a) If this change of
clothes is not obligatory, but rather an act of good manners, then why
is it explicitly mentioned in the Torah?
b)
Does the very fact that it is mentioned in the Torah not now make it
obligatory?
4. Can you think of examples,
from our own lives, of actions which are not obligatory but which are
certainly acts of good manners?
